The screening of the highly anticipated sequel to the 1996 classic Twister was held at the prestigious Leicester Square, and saw Cruise and Powell posing for photos and interacting with fans, reigniting the camaraderie that made their ‘Top Gun’ collaboration memorable.

The Hollywood action superstar showed up for the premiere of his Top Gun: Maverick co-star’s film in London to celebrate his latest project. He shared the candid photo on his Instagram and captioned it “Fun night with friends, watching a movie!!”

Joseph Kosinski, who directed Tom Cruise and Glen Powell in the 2022 Top Gun movie wrote the story for Twisters, while Mark L. Smith wrote the screenplay based on the characters created by Michael Crichton and Anne-Marie Martin. Cruise has also long been close to the executive producer of the recent Twisters and the 1996 original film, Steven Spielberg.

Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, known for his work on the critically acclaimed Minari (), Twisters (2024) aims to capture the same sense of awe and adventure that made the original a hit. The film follows a group of storm chasers who risk their lives to study tornadoes, blending state-of-the-art special effects with compelling human stories.

In addition to Powell, the film features a talented ensemble cast, including Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos. The storyline dives deeper into the personal lives of the storm chasers, offering a fresh perspective while honouring the legacy of the original film.

Twisters is set to hit theatres on 19th July 2024 in the United States and Canada and globally in the coming weeks. It promises a cinematic experience that combines cutting-edge visuals with the emotional depth and high-octane action audiences crave.
