Titanic Star Kate Winslet Reunites With Director James Cameron At Avatar 2 Photocall

Avatar 2 debuts on December 16, with sequels to come on December 20, 2024, December 18, 2026, and December 22, 2028.

Hollywood actress Kate Winslet recently reunited with James Cameron, who directed the 1997 film Titanic as they attended a photocall for the new sci-fi Avatar: The Way Of Water. The actress collaborated with the director once again for the new film, 25 years after playing the leading lady Rose in Titanic.

However, director James admitted he was slightly surprised to work with the star again, revealing that she was ‘traumatised’ after filming the romance-disaster film. Taking to the photocall’s red carpet, Kate wrapped both hands around James’ arm, as she gripped one hand with his own. The actress was looking beautiful in a pair of wet-look leggings and a white shirt, paired with an undone tie and black blazer on top.

Meanwhile, James admitted that he was surprised the actress had returned to a water movie, as a recent report by Daily Star. ‘Kate came out of Titanic a bit traumatised,’ he allegedly said. During filming for the movie, Kate famously came down with pneumonia after having to act in freezing cold water and declining the offer of a wetsuit, unlike the rest of the cast.

However, it appears that wasn’t put her off too much, as the star plays character Ronal in the new Avatar, one of the underwater beings closely related to the Na’vi. And she has even broken records while filming, with Producer Jon Landau saying, ‘Kate broke a free-diving record among the cast. It was six minutes 50-something but for Kate, we agreed to call it seven. She was phenomenal.’

Kate was apparently particularly delighted to beat Tom Cruise, who famously performs his own stunts and managed a six-minute free dive while making Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation in 2015. All the cast went through dive training to prepare for the picture which is set over a decade after the events of the first film.

The synopsis for the film reads, ‘Jake Sully and Ney’tiri have formed a family and are doing everything to stay together. ‘However, they must leave their home and explore the regions of Pandora. When an ancient threat resurfaces, Jake must fight a difficult war against the humans.’ Avatar 2 debuts on December 16, with sequels to come on December 20, 2024, December 18, 2026, and December 22, 2028.
