While fans continued to impatiently wait for the third and probably final season of Ted Lasso, the show gave its fans a special Christmas gift: a new holiday short film. On Wednesday, December 15, Apple TV+ and the Ted Lasso crew spread some holiday cheer with a very special short.
Emmy winning series star and co-creator Jason Sudeikis returns to voice the title character in this holiday motion animated short film (Ted Lasso cast), alongside Emmy winners Hannah Waddingham star as Rebecca Welton and Brett Goldstein plays Roy Kent, Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard, Jeremy Swift as Higgins, Juno Temple as Keeley Jones, Phil Dunster as Jamie Tartt and Nick Mohammed as Nathan Shelley.
The short film follows Ted as he makes a shocking discovery before a Christmas FaceTime call with son Henry played by Gus Turner, his iconic mustache has somehow disappeared! Santa is getting ready to come to town, but before he does the AFC Richmond crew gathers in the locker room to say goodbye ahead of the break. That’s when fans’ favorite coach walks in but seems to have left something on the field during practice.
Both the teammates and friends were left shocked as the group reveals that Ted is missing his signature facial hair. With a Facetime call with son Henry fast approaching, Ted’s upbeat personality starts to melt away. However, Juno sketches a black stick line on his face using a marker and says, “presto!” “I don’t know guys. It’s not really me. It looks more like Clark Gable,” as poor Ted tries to be appreciative but is getting to the point of hopelessness.
Yet, in full team spirit, the whole crew gets going to try and find a solution. Luckily, they all believe in believe and begin presenting hilarious alternatives, including Brendan and Nick. Of course, in typical Ted Lasso fashion, happiness stays and Ted’s mustache returns.
