Taylor Swift has made history at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) by surpassing Beyoncé for the most solo wins in the show’s history. The awards ceremony, held on September 11, 2024, at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, saw Swift achieve a major milestone, with her latest wins pushing her total to 30 moon men awards. This accomplishment means Taylor Swift beats Beyoncé, who previously held the record with 26 solo wins.
At the VMAs, Taylor Swift was awarded ‘Video of the Year’ for her collaboration with Post Malone on the song ‘Fortnight’. In addition to this top honor, the track won in categories such as ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Song of the Summer’. This is the fifth time Swift has won ‘Video of the Year’, making her the first artist ever to achieve this feat.
During her acceptance speech, Swift thanked everyone involved in the project, including the track’s rapper-singer Post Malone and also gave a special mention to her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. She shared a memorable moment from the shoot, noting Kelce’s cheering as a highlight.
“Something I’ll always remember is when I’d finish a take and I’d hear someone cheering from across the studio. That person was my boyfriend Travis,” Swift said. “I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot because I will always remember that,” she added.
