Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink Reveals She Nearly Missed Max’s Role

Sadie Sink revealed that she was considered too old for the part but her talent impressed the casting team.

Fans can’t think anyone else is playing Max in place of Sadie Sink on Stranger Things. However, in a recent interview with Deadline, the actress shared, that was almost the case. The actress opened up about the audition process for the show and revealed that she almost didn’t land the gig because, at 14 years old, she was considered too old for the part. However, she ultimately proved herself by taking on more and more in the audition.

Sink said, “I just begged and pleaded with them to give me more material so I could show them something fresh.” Finally, the casting team had her do a ‘chemistry read’ with Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin who play Dustin and Lucas on the show, respectively. She was quickly chosen for the part after that. Sink talked about a variety of topics in the interview including the movie industry’s effect on child actors.

Stranger Things star shared, “It’s such a weird and specific situation that the Stranger Things cast and I am all in because the world knows who our characters are but we’re still trying to figure out who we are as people.” Sadie went on to say, “I think being in the industry accelerates you and you mature faster. But for the most part, it’s just so fun because the cast is all going through it together.” ‘Honestly, my life has felt a bit like a coming-of-age movie,’ she continued.
