‘Stranger Things’ Actor Joseph Quinn Says He Was Detained At The Airport Before Appearing On ‘Tonight Show’

'Stranger Things' breakout star Joseph Quinn said that he almost missed his talk show debut on 'Jimmy Fallon' when he was held at the airport while attempting to enter the United States.

On July 25, Joseph Quinn had his debut appearance on a talk show, but he almost didn’t make it to The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in time. The Stranger Things star, 29, revealed to Jimmy Fallon that he was stopped by Immigration after coming into the United States and had to go through a further check.

“I was held up at Immigration yesterday,” Joseph explained. “I was taken into, I guess what you could call it, it was more of a dungeon. And I was asked to wait there for about 20 minutes. And then I was summoned to this desk, where someone asked me, ‘What are you doing in the United States, sir.’ I said, ‘Well, I’m actually here to meet Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.'”

The police, according to Joseph, did not believe him. “And one of his colleagues looked over at me, looked to him, and said, ‘Leave Eddie alone.'” The officer’s coworker filled him in. “He’s like, ‘It’s Eddie from Stranger Things.’ He’s like, ‘You’re Eddie Munson?’ And I was like, ‘Kind of.’ He was like, ‘Do you come back next season?’ And I said, ‘Um, I don’t know.’ And he was like, ‘You better,’ and gave me the passport.”

The incident was welcomed with thunderous applause from the live studio audience, with Jimmy concluding, “That’s the power of Eddie Munson!” Thankfully, everything Joseph took through Customs, including the Hellfire Club T-shirt he packed for Jimmy, made it through.
After Stranger Things season 4 began, Joseph became an instant superstar.

Eddie Munson, his character, has become one of the most adored Stranger Things characters. Protecting Eddie after he was wrongfully accused of killing Chrissy and other youths in town was an important part of the Hawkins storyline. Even though Quinn’s popularity appears to have arrived all of a sudden, he has been working as an actor for years, with a brief role in Game of Thrones among his credits.
