‘Star Trek 4’ Temporarily REMOVED From December 2023 Release Calendar

Fans have spent the last six years waiting for the follow-up movie and will now evidently be forced to wait even longer.

Fans have to wait for more to watch the latest Star Trek as the fourth instalment of the film series has been taken off Paramount’s release schedule for the time being. Director Matt Shakman pulled out of the project last month citing ‘scheduling conflict,’ and the hunt is on for his replacement.

Now the upcoming movie, which was previously supposed to come out on December 22, 2023, is temporary without a release date, according to Deadline. The film was initially meant to arrive in theatres on June 9 next year but was ultimately bumped to December before Shakman withdrew. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg and Karl Urban are all coming set to reprise their respective roles in the fourth film in the latest series.

All five of them have been a part of the current Star Trek movie reboot since its first instalment was released all the way back in 2009. Chris and his castmates star as young versions of the crew of the Starship Enterprise, characters who were shown older and more experienced in the original 1960s Star Trek series that launched the franchise as an international phenomenon.

JJ Abrams directed the first two films in the current series and has remained attached to the franchise as a producer. The upcoming movie’s predecessor, Star Trek Beyond, was released in 2016 under the direction of Justin Lin, who also directed the Fast And Furious franchise. Fans have spent the last six years anticipating the follow-up movie and will now evidently be forced to wait even longer.

The upcoming film is intended to be the 14th film in the Star Trek film franchise and the fourth instalment in the reboot series. For the unversed, the third movie ended with Kirk declining the promotion to vice admiral and staying as the captain of the USS Enterprise. Spock also chose to remain in Starfleet and reignited his romance with Uhura.

As the movie ends, they’re all set to continue their mission on a brand-new USS Enterprise after the previous one was destroyed during the movie’s events. However, the plot details of Star Trek 4 have been kept under tight wraps. As the hunt for the director of the film is still undergoing, fans can only wait and watch how things unfold in the upcoming film.
