British band Coldplay has announced they will stop making new music after releasing their 12th album, leaving fans in shock. Lead singer Chris Martin confirmed this in an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, saying, “We will only make 12 proper albums and that’s real. I promise.” Coldplay’s next album Moon Music, which will be their 10th, is set to release on October 4, 2024.
Chris Martin explained that the decision to limit their albums was personal. He joked, “Less is more. For some of our critics, even less would be better!” Martin also said they were inspired by artists like Bob Marley and The Beatles, who released fewer albums but kept their music quality high. He hopes Coldplay can do the same by focusing on fewer albums.
Chris added that making a great album is hard work and it takes a lot of time from his bandmates. After making 12 albums, he wants to give them more personal time and space. The band members include Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion.
Coldplay is set to perform in Mumbai in January 2025. This will be their first show in India since 2016. They will perform at the D.Y. Patil Sports Stadium on January 18, 19, and 21. Due to high demand, a third date was added to their schedule.
However, the excitement around these shows has been affected by a ticketing issue. Tickets sold out very quickly, and reports of black marketing surfaced. Tickets were being resold at much higher prices. Because of this, the Mumbai Police has summoned BookMyShow’s CEO, Ashish Hemrajani, to look into the matter.
There is also concern that the concerts might be cancelled due to this ticket scam, although no official statement has been made. BookMyShow has denied any involvement in the black market sale of tickets and has warned fans to be careful of scammers.
Fans are eagerly waiting for Coldplay’s return to India, especially as this could be one of their final tours before they stop making new music.
