Shay Mitchell recently posted a picture of herself and her newborn baby on Instagram, along with an even beautiful message. “Losing the most important person in my life in the same year I welcomed my second daughter has shifted everything for me, but one thing remains steady in my soul — I’m certain they spent time together and that brings me peace and joy,” she said referring to the death of her grandmother.
She also left her admirers with a surprise, announcing the name of her infant and the inspiration behind it. We’re so happy you’re here Rome, named after my best friend, my soulmate, my ‘person,’ my Grandma Romaine.” Shay also wore a gorgeous gold necklace with the baby’s name engraved on it. As confirmed by People, The Pretty Little Liars actress recently revealed that she gave birth to her second daughter about two weeks ago.
Later on June 4, she shared a story of herself while posing outdoors and her friend Caitlyn Bailey could be heard saying, “The first time I’ve ever left the house, for at least in weeks. I have a big surprise for all of you and guess what it is. Shay, where’s your bump?” Shay then revealed her flat stomach.
Shay gave birth to a daughter with actor Matte Babel, whom she has been related to since 2017. In a maternity video broadcast on her YouTube profile in 2019, she disclosed that she was expecting again after a sad miscarriage in 2018. She gave birth to her first daughter, Atlas Noa, in October of that year. In February 2022, the actress revealed she was expecting her second kid. She first disclosed the news in a personal Instagram post before going through the agony of losing her grandma.
“Saying goodbye to a loved one while simultaneously experiencing the joy of welcoming another into this world is the great cycle of life. It is also my most challenging season to date. I can’t help but think this was the universe’s plan all along, knowing I would need other worldly joy to cushion the blow of losing one of the most important people in my life,” she shared on Instagram earlier.
