Shawn Mendes Confesses He’s Having ‘Hard Time’ On Social Media

Shawn Mendes's candid comments came on the heels of his ex-girlfriend Camila taking a break from social media.

Shawn Mendes has recently admitted that he’s having a ‘hard time’ on social media shortly after his ex-Camila Cabello took an online break. The 23-year-old Canadian singer shared a video on his Instagram and opened up while talking about his new song It’ll Be Okay in a nearly two-minute video clip for his around 65.9 million followers.

Shawn started the video while saying of his presence on social media, “I’m a having a little bit of a hard time at the moment and just kind of my relationship with it.” “But I have lots of people sending me videos and telling me what’s going on,” he added. Shawn then started waxing poetic about the role music plays in his life. “I think that when I make music, the ultimate goal is to kind of be sitting there and have my own truth revealed to me.

Shawn Mendes went on revealing, “A lot of the time when I’m writing songs, I’m using music as a platform to be able to get to a place inside myself that I wouldn’t be able to get to by just talking to people or thinking about it.” However, his candid comments came on the heels of his ex-girlfriend Camila taking a break from social media.

Camila Cabello took to her Instagram Stories on Sunday to inform her roughly 60 million followers that she would be offline until the end of the year. “going on a lil social media detox till the new year,” Camila wrote. “just wanna spend a little less time on my phone this week x love y’all,” the Havana hitmaker explained.

Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes had been dating since July 2019, shortly after their hit duet Senorita was dropped. However, the former couple recently parted ways while announcing their breakup in a joint statement on Instagram. The statement read, “Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever. ‘We started out relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward.”
