Shawn Levy Recalls Cigar Smoke Session With Henry Cavill During Deadpool-Wolverine Shoot

The ‘Man of Steel’ actor fell “sick to his stomach” while smoking cigars.

Director Shawn Levy recently shared a memorable and humorous incident involving Henry Cavill during the highly anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine crossover shoot. In an interview with The New York Times, Levy revealed that Cavill, best known as Superman in the DC Universe, felt “sick to his stomach” after a cigar-smoking session on set.

The anecdote emerged as Levy discussed his collaboration with Henry Cavill and the challenges and joys of working on such a high-profile project. Cavill “kept that cigar lit and in his mouth for the entirety of the shoot day,” Levy told the publication. The filmmaker got to know the next day that “Henry was sick to his stomach because he had been inhaling cigar smoke for eight hours straight, but never once did he waver.”

Henry Cavill appeared as a variant of Wolverine in the multiverse and Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) had an encounter with the Logan variant while looking for the original Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) who is supposed to join him to fight the odds in the world.

Levy, known for his work on Stranger Things and the Night at the Museum series, noted the name Ryan Reynolds gave to the Cavill’s version of the Wolverine. He revealed it saying “Can I please point out that Ryan brilliantly named Henry Cavill’s Logan ‘the Cavillrine’?”

Other than Cavill, the other cameos added Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Chris Evans returning as Johnny Storm aka Human Torch, Wesley Snipes as Blade and Blake Lively as Lady Deadpool.

Deadpool & Wolverine has been generating considerable buzz among fans and promises to bring together two of Marvel’s most beloved characters, played by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, respectively. The addition of Cavill in a cameo has added to the excitement surrounding the film.

As the film continues to be run at the theatres, fans eagerly await more details and behind-the-scenes stories. Levy’s recounting of the cigar incident with Cavill has only heightened anticipation, showcasing the camaraderie and lighthearted moments that often occur during the making of blockbuster films.

Deadpool & Wolverine, now running at the theatres, is expected to be a major hit, blending action, humour, and the unique personalities of its star-studded cast.
