It’s that time of the year where new series and films are being announced, and so the eagerly anticipated official adaptation of renowned best-selling author Leigh Bardugo’s Shadow and Bone Triology and her Six Of Crows duology which had been announced by Netflix last year in January 2019, today has finally released a short official teaser of the series and we are really thrilled to see that Shadow and Bone series by Netflix gets an eerie teaser.
This official date announcement teaser of the series which has been dropped by the makers and Netflix just few hours back, has gotten viral on social media where the critics and fans are raving about it. It has successfully managed to pique our curiosity and excitement for this series and after watching the teaser, it’s so amazing to see that Shadow and Bone series by Netflix gets an eerie teaser.
The teaser also mentioned the month and year in which the series will be premiering on Netflix which is April 2021. In the official statement released by global streaming giant, author Leigh Bardugo who also serves as executive producer, showrunner and writer along with the executive producer and showrunner Eric Heisserer of (Arrival) fame, revealed few intriguing and interesting details about the series. They mentioned that originally where the Grishaverse and Six Of Crows books are curated and made with the same setting and universe, Shadow and Bone the series will be adapting them both into the same time frame as well but the most unique fact here is that since all the characters are on different tangents and timelines in their lives, this means that the viewers would be getting to witness unknown and new side of their characters in Shadow and Bone.
Spilling more light on same, Heisserer said, “The books are all set chronologically, so we technically don’t get to events in the Six of Crows books until after the Shadow and Bone books have ended. So what Leigh and I had to do was essentially invent prequel stories for the key Six of Crows characters this season — Kaz, Inej, and Jesper — to fit alongside what is happening in the Shadow and Bone storyline. That’s been the heavy lifting”.
Leigh also applauded and praised how showrunner Heisserer has taken the two totally fantasy focusing series that are filled to the brim with power along with creatures blended in horror and topped with heists and is amazed by how remarkably he has given it a shape of a smoothly running series which is very solid. Giving more insights on same, she said, “Eric took two fantasy series, with powers and creatures and horrors and heists, and molded them into this cohesive, incredible thing”.
Explaining more, she said, “I don’t think I could’ve been more lucky in the person that we found to hand the keys over to. There will also be all-new character interactions, since the cohesive approach will highlight meetings not seen in the books”.
On this Heisserer added, “I get most excited talking about certain characters meeting certain other characters, meetings that don’t happen in the books because they’re set on different timelines. But they happen in the show, and I believe those moments are meaningful”.
Shadow and Bone has a tastefully selected and apt star cast with newcomer Jessie Mei Li as Alina Starkov, Ben Barnes (Westworld) as General Kirigan, Freddy Carter as Kaz Brekker, Archie Renaux as Malyen Oretsev, Amita Suman as Inej, and Kit Young as Jesper Fahey. Watch the teaser above, ahead of its debut on Netflix in April 2021.
This Netflix original series is being produced by Leah Bardugo, Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps Entertainment, Eric Heisserer, Pouya Shahbazian and Lee Toland Krieger.
