A recent episode of renowned OTT streaming platform Paramount Plus’s spinoff series based on ‘The Good Wife’ which is titled as The Good Fight having a clear and direct reference of American actor, pop star, singer, producer and entrepreneur Selena Gomez’s 2017 kidney transplant surgery and is spoken up in jester like a joke has not really settled down well with her global fandom aka the selenators and Selena herself which later resulted in a fact wherein finally Selena lashed out at The Good Fight for kidney transplant joke.

Breaking her silence on the same this time around, the former Disney star and alum who is soon to be seen in a recurring role as Mabel in Only Murders In The Building on OTT streaming platform Hulu by 31st August 2021, Selena lashed out at The Good Fight for kidney transplant joke.

It so happened that during the episode The Good Wife spinoff i.e. The Good Fight had included a scene in which some specific characters are literally seen brainstorming for ideas and joke concepts which really are deemed as fit for TV and in which then, we seen one of the characters saying about how nowadays comedians apparently do “need a permission slip to tell a joke”.

Also as officially noted by a leading globally reliable entertainment publication, this group then talks in depth about controversial topics which include necrophilia, autism and “Selena Gomez’s kidney transplant” as totally off-limits.

After the show aired, many fans took to social media to call out the inapt and controversial nature of the joke and finally now even Selena Gomez herself has weighed in and spoken up on social media publically about the same also clearly calling out this reference as “tasteless”.

Her social media post on microblogging site Twitter via her official account a few days back read, “I am not sure how writing jokes about organ transplants for television shows has become a thing but sadly it has apparently. I hope in the next writer’s room when one of these tasteless jokes are presented it’s called out immediately and doesn’t make it on air”.

The renowned actor and star later also added a note thanking the fans who stood up for her and wrote, “My fans always have my back. LOVE YOU”.

She ended this follow-up tweet with a link to sign up to become an organ donor.

A source close to The Good Fight’s production team told the globally reliable entertainment digital publication that the most recent reference was being taken out of context sharing,  “If you watch the episode in full, the reference to Selena Gomez is part of a discussion the characters are having about topics that are not okay to make fun of and the idea of cancel culture and being cancelled for telling a bad joke. The reference is that Selena Gomez’s transplant is not something you can joke about”.
