Selena Gomez Opens Up On Mental Health: Reveals Why She No Longer Sleeps In Her Bedroom!

Selena Gomez opens up about her mental health journey, stressing the importance of support and connection during difficult times.

Selena Gomez, a popular actor and singer, has always been open and honest about her mental health struggles. She believes it’s essential for people to talk about mental health openly. On October 10, which is World Mental Health Day, Selena took another chance to encourage others to share their experiences. During a talk at the Wondermind Mental Fitness Summit, a project she started with her mother, Mandy Teefy, Selena Gomez opens up about her challenges and the importance of taking care of oneself.

In a conversation with Minaa B, Selena talked about her past issues with anxiety and feeling isolated. She explained how these feelings made her want to hide in her bedroom, a place she now connects with dark moments in her life. “I am a very anxious person,” she said. “It’s kind of like doomsday, and I think having a positive conversation with yourself, even if that sounds weird, is really impactful. Before I step out of the car and face a lot of noise and people, I have to breathe and remind myself, ‘All of this is a gift. Even if I’m not in the mood for this, when I see someone smile, it always makes my day, no matter how I’m feeling.’”

Selena also talked about her documentary My Mind and Me which shares her experiences with psychosis and bipolar depression. “I’m a little different than my mom because I spent too much time in my bedroom. I actually don’t sleep in my bedroom anymore because I associate it with a really dark time,” she explained. (Source: ELLE)

Before the World Mental Health Day, Selena discussed how she copes with tough days during an Instagram interview with fashion influencer Remi Bader. When asked what she does on days when her mental health is not great, she replied, “I have to be around people I really trust, and usually, that’s just one or two people.” She noted that isolating herself can be scary when she feels down. “I think all these thoughts,” she shared. “But if I’m with people who make me feel good and let me say anything, that always helps me. And then, there’s therapy, you know?”

On the work front, Selena’s show Only Murders in the Building, has already been renewed for a fifth season and she is currently promoting her new Spanish-language musical crime comedy film, Emilia Pérez. Recently, she captured hearts with her appearance at the Emilia Pérez photocall during the BFI London Film Festival at the Corinthia Hotel.
