Samuel L. Jackson Will Be Reprising The Role Of Nick Fury In Marvel’s ‘Secret Invasion’

Samuel L. Jackson is seen back as Nick Fury and will be sharing the screen with Emilia Clarke in a Marvel series Secret Invasion.

Samuel L. Jackson is back as Nick Fury and with the new look at the upcoming Disney+ miniseries Secret Invasion. Marvel unveiled the latest trailer on Sunday, which offered a broader look at the star-studded cast, including Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, Martin Freeman, and many others.

The series follows Jackson’s character Fury working alongside some familiar faces like Mendelsohn’s Talos and Freeman’s former CIA agent Everett K. Ross to uncover a conspiracy aimed at putting double agents in positions of power around the world. It’s an effort overseen by Gravik of Ben-Adir, who leads a group of rogue Skrulls who believe the best way to protect their race is to infiltrate Earth and take its resources.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair teasing the upcoming series, Jackson explained the conspicuous absence of Fury’s eye patch, something the actor credited as part of who the “strong Nick Fury” was. (Hollywood Reporter)

“It’s part of his vulnerability now,” he continued. “You can look at him and see that he’s not this completely indestructible person. He doesn’t feel like that guy.” As revealed in an earlier trailer for the series released in September, Fury will have to answer at least some of the blame for his earthly absence.

“I haven’t been on Earth in a minute. And as Cobie will say, she tried to reach me, but I ignored her messages,” Jackson explained. Cobie Smulders added that fans should expect a more human storyline for the show that will allow real human heroes to shine. (Hollywood Reporter)

“These people promised a lot a long time ago and not much happened. Understandably, some resentment arose,” Clarke told the magazine. “There are many emotions that live in her and there are many confrontational aspects of her character that stem from circumstances. You understand why he has the feeling he has.” (Hollywood Reporter)
