Russell Crowe “Slightly Jealous” With Gladiator Sequel!

Russell Crowe, the former Gladiator talks about the sequel and is not happy to be part of the sequel for Gladiator 2.

Russell Crowe talks about the Gladiator sequel Ridley Scott was working on, set for release in November 2024. The actor, who won an Oscar for his role in the film as mentioned earlier, is not a part of the sequel and says he is “slightly jealous”.

“I mean, look, the only thing I feel about it is a little bit jealous, you know? Because of course I was a lot younger and it was a great experience in my life,” Russell Crowe said in an interview with Collider. “It’s something that has changed my life. It changed how people saw me and what I do for a living, and I’ve been very fortunate to be in many big films, but the legs in this film are amazing.”(Deadline)

Crowe continued, “Here it is, the year is 2023 and we shot this movie in 1999. I guarantee that Gladiator will be on prime-time TV somewhere in the world tonight. And that kind of longevity doesn’t always come with every film you make, so obviously, it holds a special place in my heart.” (Deadline)

Scott is directing the sequel, starring Paul Mescal, with David Scarpa writing the screenplay. Barry Keoghan is reportedly in talks to pursue the film’s sequel. In the sequel, Mescal will play the role of Lucius, the son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen) and Commodus’ (Joaquin Phoenix) nephew.
