Renee Zellweger Wins Best Actress – Drama At The Golden Globes!

Renee Zellweger takes home the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for her portrayal of late icon Judy Garland.

And the award for Best Actress goes to…

Renee Zellweger bags the Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama award at the 77th Golden Globe Awards for her critically acclaimed performance in Judy.

Amongst the nominees were brilliant performances by Scarlett Johansson for critically acclaimed film Marriage Story, Saoirse Ronan for Little Women, Charlize Theron for Bombshell and Cynthia Erivo for Harriet.

Talking about the film, the Golden Globe winner said, “The conversations that I have had with people internationally, they just want to express their love or Judy Garland and tell me about the great personal significance of her legacy,” She further added, “Her humanity has been a great reminder that the choices we make matter. What we make matters, and how we choose to honor each other in our lifetimes can matter a great deal down the road.”

On winning the award, Zellweger concluded, “Thank you so much, everybody. It’s nice to see you. I’m honoured.” And while being interviewed backstage the actress who last won a Golden Globe in 2004 for Cold Mountain said “I learned so much and the shared experience of it in this celebration of Judy Garland who meant so much — what I didn’t say out there, what people still want to say, what she means to them 50 years after her passing says so much,”
