The actor was seen in The Late Show With Stephen Colbert for the first time recently, where he was greeted with applause and cheers that had him jokingly asking if the host had bribed the audience. Colbert remarked that people still remember him “quite fondly” from the first season of Bridgerton, “several bits of you from the season,” before asking him when he found out his career had changed as a result of the Netflix series changed.

Page explained that there were a few moments when it hit him, but there was one in particular that he remembered arriving in Belfast to film Dungeons & Dragons a few months into the gripping drama.

“I remember the landings in Northern Ireland,” he said.”I got in the car, the drive from the airport, and the driver turned on the radio, and they had a competition to find me. They said, ‘Regé-Jean Page is in town, give us a call if you know where he is.’ So I hid in the hotel for two or three months. Basically, I didn’t leave my room. So it’s kind of a mixed blessing, like, ‘You’re all lovely and give me lots and lots of attention.”(Hollywood Reporter)

He continued, “After Bridgerton, people would usually treat me on set and I would just go to work, talk to my co-workers, and the audience became the stage space because there I was being watched all the time. So a very, very strange twist happened and I’m still learning how to navigate gracefully because you want to meet people and share the joy that you bring to people. That’s why you’re doing the job. Colbert asked Page what he thought of a January New York Post headline declaring him the “most handsome man alive” according to science. The actor said it’s new to him and that he doesn’t look in the mirror every morning and say that to himself.

Colbert ended the first segment of his interview with Page by asking him for a quote he gave to Entertainment Weekly in which he proclaimed that while filming Dungeons & Dragons he “had the best butt ever.” Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves hits theaters on March 31st.
