A Peek Into Ben Affleck And Matt Damon’s 40 Years Of Bromance

With one of the longest-running friendships in Hollywood, Ben, and Matt’s bromance continues, proving nobody does friendship like them.

The duo of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were first seen on the screen in 1997 in a  movie called “Good Will Hunting” which they co-wrote. The movie bagged the award for best screenplay and both actors became Hollywood stars.

Although the duo was first seen together in 1997 their friendship goes way back as they grew up together in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They were introduced to each other by their moms at the age of 10 (Matt Damon) and 8 (Ben Affleck) and growing up they spent a lot of time together and even went to the same high school.

In an interview with Forbes, Affleck said, “We rented this house on the beach in Venice and 800 people came and stayed with us and got drunk,” the duo stayed together while working on the screenplay of “Good Will Hunting.”

“Then we ran out of money and had to get an apartment. It was, like, everything was exciting,” he added further, “So we lived in Glendale and Eagle Rock and we lived in Hollywood, West Hollywood, Venice, by the Hollywood Bowl, all over the place. We’d get thrown out of some places or we’d have to upgrade or downgrade depending on who had money.”

While they were still new to the film industry they starred together in many movies including Glory Daze in which Ben was the leading actor and Matt in the supporting role and School Ties where Matt got the lead role and Ben in the supporting role.

Their 40 years of friendship have proved that their bond is unbreakable, they both come to each other’s rescue in times of trouble.

When Ben was criticized for his back tattoo, Matt came to his rescue, during an interview with Trevor Noah he said “It’s not one man’s job to tell another man what he can do to his back. I support him in all of his artistic expression.”

Ben admitted that Matt convinced him to quit Batman, as he was not happy while working in Justice League. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he said, “in fact, I talked to Matt about it and he was a main influence on that decision. I want to do the things that would bring me joy.”

While their friendship continues, Matt told GQ that their bromance is as strong as it can be.

“It’s way too important a friendship for that, and it goes so beyond this career or anything. You know, it’s a significant part of my life and not for public consumption in that way.”
