Oscars 2020 Ceremony To Honour NBA Great Kobe Bryant

The 92nd Academy Awards 2020 Ceremony will pay a tribute to honour NBA Great Kobe Bryant fondly known as Mamba. The Grammy Awards 2020 had also honoured the star player the same day of his passing.

The 92nd Academy Awards 2020 will pay a tribute to NBA legend Kobe Bryant in the award ceremony that is all set to take play on February 9th at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California.

This tribute comes after Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Maria-Onore and seven others were tragically killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California on Sunday morning on their way to basketball practice.

The Grammy Awards 2020 also paid a tribute to Bryant in his “home” the Staples Center, where the award ceremony was held, with the help of many artists. The ceremony took place on the same day, in fact, just a few hours after the tragic incident.

Mamba had won an Oscar in 2018 in the Best Animated Short Film category for “Dear Basketball,” a film that was based on a letter he had written to announce his retirement from the NBA.

The Academy paid a tribute to the star on their official Instagram account in a heartfelt post on Monday that read, “They doubted a kid could make it in the NBA and he proved them wrong. They doubted he could win a championship and he proved them wrong. They doubted he could make movies and he won an Oscar. Like all great artists, Kobe Bryant proved the doubters wrong. Rest in peace.”
