Olivia Rodrigo teases that she will be releasing new music in 2023 after the massive success of her debut album Sour which scored her three Grammy Awards. The singer confirmed the exciting news in a ‘thank you’ video to fans following the release of Spotify Wrapped. The songstress recently boasts over 35MIL monthly listeners on the music streaming platform, Spotify.
Following the achievement, Olivia gushed, “I just wanted to say thank you so much for listening to my music this year.” She then teased, “I really, truly couldn’t be more grateful and I am so excited for next year, and all of the new things and new music that 2023 will bring.” Despite releasing in 2021, Sour becomes the third-most streamed album globally.
Sour was also the fifth-most streamed album in the United States. Moreover, The High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star received numerous accolades last year including three Grammy wins on seven total nominations. Though Olivia didn’t release any new music, fans did get new content. Olivia released a documentary titled Olivia Rodrigo: driving home 2 u in March, where she drove from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles and talked about the making of Sour.
The driver’s license singer toured from April to July of this year beginning in Portland, Oregon, and ending in London, England. She hit a total of 10 countries including – but not limited to – Canada, France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. Olivia opened up about the new album in an interview with Billboard that came out back in February.
During the interview, Rodrigo shared, “I have a title for my next album and a few songs.” Olivia revealed at the time, “It’s really exciting to think about the next world that’s coming up for me. I just love writing songs. I’m trying not to put too much pressure on myself. [I want to] just sort of explore and have fun right now.”
