Rapper and singer Nicki Minaj has not attended the 2021 MET Gala in New York City. The fundraising event has required all attendees to be vaccinated and Nicki doesn’t look in a mood to get a jab.
She tweeted, “They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. if I get vaccinated it won’t for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now.” She added, “In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head & face. Not that loose one.”
As an explanation for her absence at the biggest fashion event, she tweeted, “I have an infant with no nannies during COVID. who mad? Not risking his health to be seen. One yaself.”
When one of her fans tweeted that he didn’t want Nicki to risk catching Covid at the Gala, the singer replied to the tweet, “Love u babe. I was prepping for vmas then i shot a video & guess who got COVID? Do u know what it is not to be able to kiss or hold your tiny baby for over a week?” She continues “A baby who is only used to his mama? “get vaccinated” Drake had just told me he got covid w|THE VACCINE tho so chile”
Nicki Minaj didn’t get a vaccine as she is not sure about its side effects. A few days back Starships singer’s ever-loyal Barbz urged her to rethink her stance on vaccines. Another fan also suggested Nicki rethink her decision, “Nicki the vaccine doesn’t prevent getting covid, it prevents you getting serious symptoms.” He also mentioned the research from the CDC that shows vaccines are effective at keeping people from contracting fatal cases of COVID-19. Still, unsatisfied Nicki replied, “Babe. That’s not true,” She also acknowledged that she previously caught the virus. “I had the exact same symptoms as ppl with the damn vaccine.”
The songwriter later alleged that her cousin in Trinidad refuses to get the vaccine because his friend got it & became impotent. The singer tweeted, “His testicles became swollen.” She continues, “His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it & make sure you’re comfortable with ur decision, not bullied.”
According to the Centre For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the vaccine is safe and is not known to cause impotency nor genital swelling. Rather, it is known to maximize protection from emerging variants including the Delta variant. Also, it possibly prevents the virus from spreading to others.
Minaj’s tweets came hours before the Met Gala was set to kick off at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. Minaj also skipped MTV Video Music Awards (VMOs) on Sunday. MTV’s event also required attendees to be vaccinated. However, she also said that she’ll definitely get vaccinated as she has to go on a trip. Nicki Minaj has walked the Met Gala carpet five times before. Her last appearance till now came at a 2019s Camp-themed bash. She added to the event beauty with her pastel pink Prabal Gurung number.
Due to the pandemic, there was no Met Gala in the year 2020. However, the event traditionally takes place on the first Monday of May each year, but this year’s edition was postponed to the second Monday due to COVID-19 concerns. The theme of this year’s Met Gala is In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.
The hip-hop magnate and favorite of Anna Wintour’s is not only the Hollywood star who did not attend the event due to safety concerns. Another Met Gala mainstay, Kylie Jenner opted to fly back to Los Angeles after a whirlwind trip to the Big Apple for New York Fashion Week. Jenner,24, wrote in a post to her Instagram Story on Monday. The post reads, “I’m so sad I couldn’t make it this year.” Jenner added, “I can’t want to see all the looks.” According to Page Six, the pregnant reality star Jenner felt that attending would take too much time, effort, and energy. “Kylie’s pregnant and it’s a lot to take on, going to such a public event,” a source said. Kylie Jenner is expecting her second child with Travis Scott.
