Nicki Minaj Bombarded By Fans In England, Asks Them To ‘Get Into A Contained Space’

Fans surrounded Nicki Minaj's limo as it travelled through Camden, England, on Monday, turning the excitement into chaos.

After entertaining a huge crowd at the Wireless Festival in Finsbury Park over the weekend, Minaj made the spontaneous decision to play at Cafe KOKO in Camden. However, Minaj was forced to seal herself inside the vehicle after arriving at the venue much later than she’d anticipated on Sunday. She had previously stuck her head out the sunroof to wave to the crowds of enthusiastic fans.

Minaj actually went on Twitter to warn fans who gathered around the car that the Metropolitan Police wouldn’t allow the event to go as planned if they didn’t calm down and act decently. “Guys, if you don’t get in a contained space they won’t let me get out the cars. Pls don’t run in the streets. Please get in 1 place. 1 line,” she requested on Twitter.

More and more police were sent in to guard the area and try to keep order as the situation worsened and the fans wouldn’t leave the streets and move away from the cars. Many people in the crowd who were taking pictures of the chaos suddenly became aware of the police presence. Before the event, Minaj tried to access the area despite being surrounded by police and private security.

She tried to enter the venue covertly, but as soon as people noticed her, they started yelling and crowded around her. One fan-recorded herself approaching Minaj, who was seen firmly telling the fan to “back up” and shooing the person away from her personal space. The user posted about the encounter on TikTok with the caption, “My fave literally touched me.” Police and security then rushed her to her waiting black van, where the flock of fans then followed.

Others around the scene recorded video of the chaos as fans swarmed after Minaj’s van as it drove away from the event. Out of concern for the artist’s safety, Minaj and the event’s planners ultimately decided to call off the performance entirely. The disappointed crowd needed to be informed by police stationed at the venue of the event that the performer had gone and that the performance would not take place.
