Netflix’s Wednesday Surpasses Stranger Things 4 Most Viewed Record

Netflix series, Wednesday, has viewed a total of 341.2 million hours in just one week.

Netflix’s new series Wednesday recently debuted on the streaming platform. And The Addams Family spinoff series instantly became a hit, holding a new record. Wednesday grabs the most hours viewed record for an English language series. The series has viewed a total of 341.2 million hours in just one week.

The streaming giant took to social media and announced that Wednesday has set a new record. While sharing Wednesday’s poster, Netflix’s official Twitter account tweeted, “Wednesday now holds the record for most hours viewed in a week for an English-language series on Netflix, with 341.2 MILLION HOURS!” The tweet continues, “The series — starring Jenna Ortega from EPs Tim Burton, Al Gough & Miles Millar — is #1 in 83 countries, tying the record set by Stranger Things 4.”

Previously, the record was held by Stranger Things 4. The gothic series logged 335 million hours viewed in its first week on Netflix, according to Deadline. The series starring Millie Bobby Brown was on the platform’s Top 10 in its second week. The two hit series are currently tied, however, as #1 in 83 countries.

Meanwhile, the South Korean drama series Squid Game still holds the all-time record for hours viewed in a single week with 571.8 million hours logged. The new Netflix series Wednesday stars Jenna as the iconic Addams Family character, a role previously inhabited by Christina Ricci. In a new interview, Jenna revealed she did not seek advice from Christina on how to play the character.

In an MTV News interview with co-star Emma Myers, who plays her roommate, Enid, Jenna shared, “Our show has superpowers and outcasts and evil ghost pilgrims.” She further explained, “I think when [Christina] was on set, neither one of us said “Wednesday” once to each other.” Jenna continues, “I don’t think she wanted to get in the way of my performance and feel like she was overbearing,” adding, “They’re two very different people, our Wednesdays.”
