Since 2020, Outer Banks has drawn in fans with its compelling treasure hunts, mysteries, and the strong bond between the Pogues, a group of adventurous teens. Set in the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina, the show follows John B., Sarah, and their friends as they explore secrets in their coastal town. Now, with Season 4 recently released and part two coming soon, fans have bittersweet news: Netflix has renewed Outer Banks for a fifth—and last—season.
Creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate and Shannon Burke have said that this ending has been part of the plan from the beginning. The idea for the show started with the photo of teens on a beach inspiring them to create a five-season story full of adventure and friendship. “We wanted a story that would take these friends through five seasons of discovery,” the creators shared, happy to see how far the show has come. Season 5 will give them a chance to wrap up the Pogues’ journey in the way they always imagined.
Season 4 has shown how much fans still love the series with the season reaching Netflix’s top 10 in many countries. For the first time, Season 4 will end with a longer, movie-like episode, setting up big stakes for the final season. Though there’s no premiere date yet, fans can expect an emotional ride that brings the Pogues together for a final, unforgettable quest.
In a message to fans, the creators promised a season that celebrates the heart of Outer Banks – friendship, adventure and the special connection of the Pogues. Chase Stokes, who plays John B., shared his thanks with fans, looking forward to “one last ride”.
‘Outer Banks’ maybe ending but the spirit of the Pogues will stick with fans for years.
