Netflix Releases First Look Of Highly Anticipated ‘Bridgerton’ Prequel, Check Out

Bridgerton's prequel series, 'Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story' was first announced last year.

Netflix has finally unveiled the first-look photo of Arsema Thomas as a Young Lady Agatha Danbury in the highly anticipated Bridgerton prequel series. The actress looked royal in a stunning gown embellished with shimmering jewels, along with a sparkling silver necklace and a coordinating tiara.

In the prequel series, the new cast has been added along with some familiar faces like Golda Rosheuvel, who played Queen Charlotte, Ruth Gemmell, who played Lady Violet Bridgerton and Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury later in life. Meanwhile, last September, another first-look image was revealed of Queen Charlotte ahead of the much-anticipated spin-off.

It was announced last year that a spin-off series about the younger years of the dazzling and gossip-hungry monarch would be in the works, with the show written and produced by Bridgerton creator Shonda Rhimes. Netflix released the photo of India Amarteifio as the fan-favourite character from the period drama. Along with the first glimpse at the character, Netflix also revealed that the official title for the prequel spin-off show will be ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.’

The official plot synopsis of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story read, ‘Centered on Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power, this Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.’

The news came ahead of Saturday’s Netflix fan event Tulum, where the series will be featured and more surprise announcements will be unveiled. Ruth Gemmell is also set to reprise her role as Lady Violet Bridgerton while Michelle Fairley will join the cast as Princess Augusta. Netflix hit series is set in the mid-18th Century, the prequel examines the young life of Charlotte, the daughter of German royalty who wed British Monarch George III, played in the Netflix drama by Corey Mylchreest, in 1761, when she was 17.

The marriage lasted 57 years and produced 15 children. Miss Amarteifio, 21, who played DCI Roz Huntley’s daughter Sophie in the fourth season of BBC drama Line Of Duty, has also starred in Dr Who and ITV’s Unforgotten.
