Moments Where Original Cast Of Charmed Slammed Its Reboot

The stirring incident between the original cast of Charmed and the reboot version cast defending their show happened due to a video where Holly and Rose were openly slamming the reboot version of their show which has set social media on fire.

We can see that something similar has happened here as well for now that everyone knows that Charmed Season 3 is coming on CW after getting pushed ahead a couple of times, finally in January 2021 and before coming to that point, we will see the moments where original cast of Charmed slammed its reboot.

To a certain extent this is true that not everytime do we get to see a well-made, smartly written, properly executed and exceptionally strongly layered supernatural show that too on TV GEC’s and if we see it in this way, then it is perfectly normal and okay for any show’s original cast to openly criticize and bash their rebooted versions if they don’t find it to be as thrilling and exciting like their version and this thing took place when we saw the moments where original cast of Charmed slammed its reboot.

Also its not very common for such social media wars to take place, but it did happen, when we now know the fact due to witnessing the moments where the original cast of Charmed slammed its reboot.

Also its very out of the blue to hear about this kind of long time enmity and rivalry between the original cast and the creators of its rebooted version, but this is real when we also being audiences saw the moments where the original cast of Charmed slammed its reboot.

This is a very common thing that happens everywhere when you have a successful original supernatural genre show which worked very hard to create a fan base and fan following of its own leaving a lasting impression on the viewers, fans across the globe and the audiences where people still remember that show and over the years it gets termed as a brilliant cult classic.

The original series titled as “Charmed” was launched back in year 1988 on CW channel as a supernatural thriller genre show. It ran from the year 1988 to the year 2006 on the CW channel where during that time, it was a very critically acclaimed and commercially successful show but only had approximately 180 episodes only and we can say this was one of the first finite series TV show.

This show has now left the global OTT platform Netflix earlier in this month and would now be moving to Peacock. But the original cast members of the show which includes Holly Combs has taken their series Netflix exit to the heart and very personally which has now created a raging dispute between her, co-star Rose McGowan, where even the new cast of CW’s Charmed was not spared at all.

The feud stirring situation was seen in a video that featured Holly and Rose who were both seen discussing the departure and exit of their show CW’s Charmed from the VOD OTT streaming platform Netflix.

Also the most important factor and reason of why the original supernatural masterpiece show Charmed has left Netflix is because of ViacomCBS’s deal with Peacock OTT streaming platform.

However in the said infamous video we can see how Holly has placed serious allegations on Netflix being the main culprit for their show’s departure by citing that it is because they want you to always search the new Charmed and not the old one.

She was quoted telling a leading international magazine that, “When you search for it they want you to find the new Charmed”.

Then further in the same conversation telling about the reboot she told, “but it sucks”, before also adding this bit, “I haven’t seen it, I can’t say that…but I’m happy that people have jobs…but it can still suck”.

This controversial video of both Holly and Rose then got viral on globally popular short video making app TikTok and following the same trend it also got posted on Twitter where a twitter user clearly said about the same in his tweet which read, “It really doesn’t sit right with me that white women from the OG charmed consistently put down a new #Charmed with a POC cast…you hate to see it”.

It was at this moment that actor Sarah Jeffery who plays the character of Maggie Vera in the rebooted version, took to her twitter handle and tweeted this tweet where her caption read, “You know, I saw this earlier and I refrained from saying anything. I thought, better to just let them shout into the abyss. But I do want to say, I find it sad and quite frankly pathetic to see grown women behaving this way”.

Holly Combs then also came forward and tweeted a tweet on her account where she did slam the show and her caption for the same read, “That’s some bulls**t. And a lot of it. Clearly. People speaking, excuse me typing, derogatory accusations of a person’s character despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary because of a difference in opinions about a tv show is just plain wrong. And also personal gain honey”.

Also this is clearly not her first time where she openly slammed and mocked the new version of the show. Almost 2 years back in May 2018, Combs shared a very interesting screenshot that showed the Twitter and DM exchanges between her and the journalist Jenna Amatulli in which she was quoted saying this for the reboot, “I will never understand what is fierce, funny or feminist in creating a show that basically says the actresses are too old to do a job they did 12 years ago”.

She further even went down to taking a dig at the rebooted version of the show’s marketing campaign where the actor said, “I hope the new show is far better than the marketing so the true legacy does remain. Reboots fair better when they honor the original as opposed to taking shots at the original”.

But according to the reboot cast, they refuted these claims made by Holly as they were really trying to honor and treat original series as canon. Reboot Charmed cast actor Star Madeline Mantock during an interview with a popular international weekly magazine had said, “We want to honor what the original Charmed had and did but we’ve very much got our own thing going on”.

Also in the same year 2018 back in January Holly had tweeted a tweet which said, “Here’s the thing. Until you ask us to rewrite it like Brad Kern did weekly don’t even think of capitalizing on our hard work. Charmed belongs to the 4 of us, our vast amount of writers, crews and predominantly the fans. FYI you will not fool them by owning a title/stamp. So bye”.

It seems like there is lots of rivalry, cold wars and bad blood that exist between the original cast of Charmed and it new show runners and creators and this fact was made official and hinted at by Phoebe Halliwell herself. During her interview then with the internationally renowned weekly magazine in January 2019 she said, “It was such a huge part of my life, and I think the way in which it all went down from the beginning and not being included in any of those discussions, kind of makes it hard for me to accept that it’s a thing”.

Previously back in 2013 she had also during an interview with most prominent digital magazine told, “I wish that they would have come to us and we would have been involved since the beginning. But having said that, I do hope that it reaches the newer generation and impacts that generation the way ours was able to do for its generation”.

Almost 7 years back in 2013 even before the Charmed Reboot had been made, the original cast had expressed their take and opinion on the same in a series of tweets where Milano had tweeted, “The thing about them doing a #charmed reboot is… it just… it feels like yesterday. It feels too close”.

Where Rose McGowan had also tweeted about it way back in the same year and her tweet read, “They really are running out of ideas in Hollywood”.

Charmed season 3 will be releasing in January 2021 on the CW Channel finally after so many indefinite delays that happened due to the global wide COVID 19 pandemic.
