Millie Bobby Brown Cried When She First Saw Stranger Things 4 Villain ‘Vecna’

Jamie Campbell Bower donned intensive prosthetics to give the image of burned and blistered skin with huge tentacles attached to his back for his character.

Stranger Things season 4 has recently debuted on Netflix. However, Eleven and Vecna might have bad terms but Millie Bobby Brown is really on good terms with her co-star Jamie Campbell Bower. However, seeing him in Vecna costume drove Brown to tears. Bower played a villain named Vecna on the most recent season of the critically-acclaimed Netflix drama Stranger Things. The Sweeney Todd actor opened up about filming a scene with Brown in an interview with Variety. “They brought her up into a position where she’s bound,” the actor told the publication.

He added to the outlet, “I walked up to her and she burst into tears. She wouldn’t look at me and she was visibly just disgusted by the whole thing.” He went on to say that the smell of smoke on his clothes helped Brown calm down because she was reminded of who was underneath the heavy makeup. Bower then added, “After she cried and I made it obvious that she knew it was me.” The actor then revealed, “‘one of the things she said was that ‘I knew it was you when I could smell cigarettes,’ because I’m a smoker.”

For his role as Vecna, Bower donned intensive prosthetics to give the image of burned and blistered skin with huge tentacles attached to his back. The Stranger Things team enlisted the help of prosthetics designer Barrie Gower, who worked on Game of Thrones and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, to build Vecna’s skin. It took nearly eight hours to apply all of the latex to Bower’s body. The crew would then film for 10 to 12 hours before removing the suit, which took another hour.

Bower regularly got to set at 3 a.m. so the suit could be attached before filming began for the day. The cost of production for the fourth season was reportedly more than $30 million an episode.
