Met Gala 2023: The biggest fashion costume event of the year is back. The event will take place tonight at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. Usually hosted on the first Monday of May, the event theme this year would center around the late German fashion designer ‘Karl Lagerfeld’.
What Is Met Gala?
Met Gala is basically a fundraising event held for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. The event is also formally known by the name ‘Costume Institute Gala’ or the ‘Costume Institute Benefit’. Designers, fashion icons, and actors known across the world grace the red carpet every year.
Theme Of Met Gala 2023
Met Gala 2023 theme will center around the late German fashion designer ‘Karl Lagerfeld’. The theme would be “Karl Lagerfeld: The Line Of Beauty” to pay tribute to the late designer. Meanwhile, the theme last year was focused on “Gilded Glamour”.
Hollywood And Bollywood Guests This Year
The co-chairs this year for the event include famous Hollywood actress Michaela Coel, Penélope Cruz, Swiss tennis player Roger Federer and singer Dua Lipa. Meanwhile, the guest list is usually kept secret each year, however, there have been a few stars including actor Elle Fanning and Singer Rita Ora have confirmed their attendance for the event.
Meanwhile, Blake Lively who attended the event last year has now revealed that she would not be attending the ball this year around. On the other hand, Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra who skipped the ball last year will reportedly attend the ball this year. Apart from her actress Alia Bhatt will make her Met Gala debut this year.

Met Gala is one of the events which will not be broadcasted directly on television. Instead, the event will be streamed online on Vogue’s social media pages and website.
