Since it first aired, Emily in Paris has won over many fans with its fun look at life in the beautiful city of Paris. The series follows Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins as she manages her job and love life in the City of Love. One popular character is Gabriel, a charming chef played by Lucas Bravo. However, Bravo recently shared that he is unsure if he will return for the show’s fifth season because he feels disconnected from his character.
In a recent interview with IndieWire, Lucas Bravo talked about how his character has changed over the seasons. At first, Gabriel felt relatable and fun to play. But as the show went on, Bravo felt he and Gabriel started to drift apart. He said, “The ‘sexy chef’ was very much part of me in Season 1, but we grew apart season after season because of the choices he makes and the direction they take him.” This change has made it hard for him to connect with Gabriel like he used to.
Bravo is also worried that Gabriel has become more of a passive character, often looking confused and unaware of what is going on around him. He mentioned, “Once I realized that everyone was manipulating my character, it became not fun for me to shoot.” This has made him question whether he wants to continue in the role, especially since his contract ends with the fourth season.
Despite his worries, Lucas Bravo is thankful for the chances that Emily in Paris has given him. He said, “I love the show and the people in it.” Still, he hopes to see Gabriel become more lively and fun again in the next season. He expressed, “Three seasons of playing melancholic, sad, and lost is not fun anymore.”
As fans wait to hear more about the future of Emily in Paris, Lucas Bravo’s thoughts highlight the need for strong character development and creative freedom in storytelling.
