Tito Jackson, one of the founding members of the iconic group the Jackson 5, has passed away at the age of 70. Tito, who formed the group with his brothers Michael, Jermaine, Jackie and Marlon, died on Sunday. The news of his passing was first reported by Entertainment Tonight with confirmation coming from Steve Manning, a close friend of the Jackson family. Manning stated that Tito may have suffered a heart attack while driving, although the exact cause of death remains undetermined. The news was later verified by Tito’s nephew, Siggy Jackson.
Recently, Tito Jackson had been performing alongside his brothers, Marlon and Jackie, as part of the reformed Jacksons group. Just a week ago, they performed in England and they also delivered a set at the Fool in Love Festival in Los Angeles on August 31.
Tito’s final social media post, shared four days ago, reflected on a visit to a memorial for his late brother, Michael Jackson. He expressed his gratitude for the tribute, stating, “Before our show in Munich, my brothers Jackie, Marlon, and I, visited the beautiful memorial dedicated to our beloved brother, Michael Jackson. We’re deeply grateful for this special place that honors not only his memory but also our shared legacy.”
Tito had planned to perform live next month at the Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena in Atlantic City, continuing his musical journey. Born as Toriano Adaryll Jackson, Tito was the third child in the Jackson family. He rose to fame in the late 1960s as part of the Jackson 5, which achieved global success with hits like I Want You Back, ABC, The Love You Save, I’ll Be There and more.
Tito Jackson was also a proud father to three sons—Taj, Taryll and TJ—and had nine grandchildren. Known for his guitar skills and vocal talent, Tito was a key part of the Jackson 5’s success and left an indelible mark on the music world.
