Korean pop group BTS is one of the most renowned groups in the world. The legendary music group enjoys a massive fandom across the world, while their fans are known as their “Army”. However, as per the latest reports, it is now believed that the military of South Korea might conscript the members of the band for military duties. Here’s all that we know-
BTS To Face Possible Military Conscription
The topic of conscripting BTS for the military has often remained in the headlines, and due to the same many fans of the famous group have often shared their take on the same. However, it has still not been confirmed whether the 7 members of the musical band will be serving in the military.
For those who remained unknown, in South Korea, all “able-bodied” men are obligated to serve in the military for almost 18-20 months be it normal public or even the worldwide known actors. However, there still remain a few exemptions for people like athletes, musicians, and others who are acknowledged worldwide since they enhance national prestige.
Following the same, in 2020, exceptions were made for BTS members to delay their service until they were 30, however, it is now believed that all 7 members of the group might just have to serve the military in the upcoming year. As per a report of the news agency AP, Military Manpower Administration commissioner, Lee Ki Sik has told the lawmakers on October 7 that it’s “desirable” for members of the Kpop group, BTS, to fulfill their military duties to ensure fairness in the country’s military service.
While the public of South Korea has also shared their take on the same, in one of the recent surveys, about 61% of respondents were in support to exempt the band BTS and other public entities like such from military service, while in yet another poll about 54 percent of the respondents said that the band should serve the military.
