Lately, there has been a lot of speculation that Johnny Depp and his lawyer Camille Vasquez are dating but Vasquez is fed up with these rumours and has finally addressed them, saying that it is highly disappointing. While the accusations are distressing, Vasquez, 37, who successfully represented the Pirates of the Caribbean actor in his defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard, said in a recent interview with People that it all “comes with the territory of being a woman just doing her job.”
She explained, “It’s disappointing that certain outlets kind of ran with it or said that my interactions with Johnny, who is a friend and I’ve known and represented for four-and-a-half years now, that my interactions in any way were inappropriate or unprofessional. That’s disappointing to hear.” Vasquez also shared with the outlet that she has a boyfriend and that she is ‘very happy’ in her relationship and this should put an end to these rumours once and for all.
She also clarified that it is unethical for lawyers to date their clients. “It’s sexist,” she added. “It’s unfortunate and it’s disappointing, but at the same time, it kind of comes with the territory. I can’t say I was all that surprised.” Vasquez also explained that she was just doing her job. She said, “I care very deeply about my clients, and we have obviously become close.
But when I say ‘we,’ I mean the entire team, and of course that includes Johnny. And, I’m Cuban and Colombian. I’m tactile. What do you want me to say? I hug everyone. And I’m not ashamed about that.” Vasquez is referring to a court video that shows her welcoming her colleague with a quick embrace after Heard was released from the witness stand, then hugging Depp twice, patting his chest twice, and holding his hand.
Depp caressed her back and maintained his eyes on her as she walked away, a broad grin on his face. “This man was fighting for his life and it broke my heart to see him day in and day out have to sit there and listen to the most horrific allegations being made against him. And if I could provide any bit of comfort, then, of course, I would do that, whether it’s holding his hand or letting him know that we were there and we were going to fight for him because he deserved it,” she explained to the outlet.
