Johnny Depp WINS Defamation Trial Against Amber Heard- Read Jury Verdict!

The long-running legal battle has finally come to an end, with Johnny bagging the defamation case! Read to know the jury's final verdict!

Finally, an update on the most anticipated defamation case of estranged couple Johnny Depp and Amber Heard is here! After suing ex-wife Amber over claims of domestic abuse, Johnny has finally won the long-running legal battle. The jury, apart from ruling out Johnny Depp being ‘defamed’ by Amber Heard, also awarded Johnny USD 15 million in damages and USD 2 million to Amber for a countersuit.

For the unversed, Johnny had sued ex-wife Amber Heard for USD 50 million of false accusations, after the latter had called herself a ‘public figure representing domestic abuse’s in an op-ed of a newspaper. Whereas, Heard had countersued him for USD 100 million saying the 58-year-old ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star’s lawyer had called her accusations a ‘hoax’. Throughout the tumultuous trial, Depp had denied hitting Amber, or any other woman for that matter and instead argued how Amber was perhaps, the one who turned ‘violent’ in their relationship.

While Johnny Depp was not physically present when the final verdict was announced, Amber Heard was seen in the courtroom. Soon after the announcement, Johnny took to his Instagram handle to share a post with his fans, who continued to have faith in the actor despite the challenging time. He mentioned in the post how the goal of bringing this case was to ‘reveal the truth’.

Soon after the verdict was announced, Amber shared in a statement revealing she was ‘disappointed’ and ‘heartbroken’ that she lost the case. “I am sad I lost this case,” she said. As Amber expressed her dejection, Depp on the other hand, expressed his gratitude towards his fans and the jury, specifically, for ‘giving him his life back’ and revealed feeling at ‘peace’ finally.

It was further fascinating to see the crowd outside the courtroom cheer for Depp every time a decision went in his favour. Despite having won the case, Johnny will still have to compensate USD 2 million as compensation, for being found guilty in some counts of defamation in the countersuit by Amber Heard.
