She’s an outstanding actor with stellar performances in Netflix movie “The Kissing Booth” (2018), “The Kissing Booth 2” (2020), and Hulu’s “The Act” (2019), to her credit which have proven her mettle and credibility as a versatile actor who can pull off any kind of unconventional and complex roles very effortlessly.

She had shot for this horror film in early 2018. And now instead of a direct theatre release the makers of this movie have decided to digitally stream the full length feature film on Amazon Prime due to the ongoing global COVID 19 pandemic.

Coming to Joey’s character in this movie, she plays the role of teen daughter to Peter Sarsgaard and Mireille Enos. In the film she confesses to her parents about having killed her best friend.

Later as the story of the film gets intense we would see that her parents then take increasingly unplanned and quick damage control measures to cover up what their daughter has done while at the same time they slowly also come to terms with the realization and reality of just what their daughter is really capable of.

The film has been written and directed by Canadian filmmaker Veea Sud, who created the TV series “The Killing” in which Enos starred.

Joey’s horror film “The Lie” was made in early 2018 in Toronto, where it screened for the first time in the same year at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

It’s a choc a bloc and thrilling time for the actress who announced it officially earlier this week that she is partnering with director McG to executively produce and star in the original film adaptation of the dystopian fantasy novel Uglies.

A leading international website stated that this film would be a Netflix movie for which Joey has previously starred in both The Kissing Booth films. Uglies will be McG’s fourth film for Netflix after The Babysitter, Rim of the World and The Babysitter: Killer Queen.

The story of the film is reportedly based on Scott Westerfeld’s 2005 novel that takes place in a future world where everyone is compelled to go through a total surgery at 16 years old to follow an ideal standard of beauty. 

King will be seen playing the character of lead protagonist Tally Youngblood, who starts a war and rebellion against the forced beauty standards along with her friends.

On the work front, Joey is also set and ready to star in a movie adaptation of Jodi Picoult’s “A Spark of Light” that is currently in the initial development stage at Sony Pictures Television and is attached to Sony’s Brad Pitt movie Bullet Train.
