This father-daughter team is truly legendary. At the 2022 Daytime Emmys, on June 24, Jennifer Aniston delivered a heartfelt homage to her father John Aniston as he was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his successful television career. The Morning Show actress said it was a “really meaningful moment” to commemorate her father, who is best known for his role on Days of Our Lives, in a video tribute made for the awards show.
Jennifer said, “It’s an opportunity not only to pay tribute to a true icon in the daytime television world, but it’s also a chance to recognize the life-long achievements of a great and well-respected actor who also happens to be my dad.” The Friends actress said that her father started acting in 1962 with a role on the police thriller 87th Precinct, and has been “working in television consistently for over half a century.”
He has since been in a number of venerable television programmes, including Combat!, Gilmore Girls, The West Wing, Star Trek: Voyager, and others. Jennifer further said that John was “simultaneously appearing in nearly every soap opera imaginable” at the same time. “You name anything, I’m sure he’s been on it,” she said in jest. But according to Aniston, Days of Our Lives will always be her father’s ‘TV home’ because he has played the “dangerously attractive, constantly suave businessman Victor Kiriakis” on the show since 1985.
Jennifer concludes by saying, “For over 30 years, his dedication to that show has gained him the respect and admiration of his fellow actors, deep friendships and thrilled millions of fans around the world. His career is literally the definition of lifetime achievement.” While John wasn’t present that night, his co-star from Days of Our Lives Suzanne Rogers collected the award and spoke a brief statement on his behalf. “To be recognized is a tremendous privilege and achievement. John will be forever grateful,” she said.
