Javicia Leslie Becomes First Black Actor To Play The Character Of Batwomen

After the abrupt exit of actor Ruby Rose from superhero CW series Batwoman, the producers have finally found a brand new lead with Javicia Leslie, the God Friended Me actor is all set to take over the cape for the second season of Batwomen. “I am extremely proud to be the primary Black actress to play the enduring role of Batwoman on television, and as a bisexual woman, i’m honored to hitch this groundbreaking show which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community,” Variety quoted Leslie as saying. Reportedly, Leslie will be portraying a new character of Ryan Wilder for the show. The character of Wilder has been described as messy, goofy, untamed, and likable. Leslie took over the series from Rose who announced her departure from the series earlier in May. Ruby’s exit came as a shocker for everyone as the first season was recently wrapped and makers had already announced its second season. However, Ruby didn’t mention the real reason for her exit from Batwoman but she claims it was a difficult decision.
