Is Vin Diesel In Avatar Sequels? Producer Reveals The Truth

Vin Diesel shared a video on his social media in 2019 with James Cameron from the set of the Avatar sequel.

Vin Diesel was rumoured to star in James Cameron’s Avatar sequels. However, Avatar franchise producer Jon Landau debunked all the rumours related to the casting of Diesel. In a recent interview with Empire, the producer shuts down the buzz that emerged after Diesel shared a video alongside director James Cameron back in 2019.

In the interview, Jon shared with the outlet, “Vin was a fan. He came in, visited the set one day to see what we were doing and people took that out of context.” For the unversed, Fast and Furious star shared a video on his social media in 2019. In the video, Diesel and Cameron can be seen on the set of the Avatar sequel films, which the filmmaker joked was “top secret, like the Manhattan Project.”

While referring to Cameron, Diesel can be seen saying, “There is one person in Hollywood I’ve always wanted to work with and learn from… and so, all things come, I guess, to those that wait.” While he is not involved in any of Avatar’s sequels, the actor has several projects under his belt. Diesel is seemingly booked and busy, with two films scheduled for release this year only.

Moreover, the actor both stars in and co-produces Fast X, the upcoming 10th instalment in the Fast & Furious franchise, which hits theatres on May 19. Meanwhile, on May 5, he reprises the voice of Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. According to an official synopsis of James Gunn’s film, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Peter Quill/Star-Lord, played by Chris Pratt, ‘still reeling from the loss of Gamora’, which happened in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War.

The synopsis continues, ‘but he must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.” The franchise’s third instalment, which writer and director James Gunn announced would be the last, wrapped filming in May 2022.
