Sabrina Dhowre, Idris Elba’s wife, tested positive for coronavirus after being self-isolated with her actor husband, who was confirmed positive for the COVID-19. Sabrina told Oprah Winfrey on Saturday, as she sat next to her husband on a video call from their New Mexico quarantine.
Sabrina said, “I’ve been tested — actually, I found out this morning, Oprah, that I tested positive.”
Defending her choice to isolate Dhowre said she wasn’t shocked and never questioned remaining with her husband after his reported infection. Speaking to Oprah during a live stream for her latest Oprah Talks Apple TV+ show, Sabrina said:
“I wanted to be with him. That is the instinct of a wife. You want to go and take care. I could have made a decision to maybe put myself in a separate room or stay away and I’m sure that people are making those tough decisions. But I made the decision to want to be with him … and still touch him.”
Covid-19 has also been tested positive by many other Hollywood celebrities. Bon Jovi’s Member David Bryan and Entourage alum’s Debi Mazar is the latest Hollywood celebrity to test coronavirus positive.
A number of celebrities, including Hollywood legend Tom Hanks and his partner, actress Rita Wilson, British actor Idris Elba, former Bond girl Olga Kurylenko, “Frozen 2” actor Rachel Matthews, Daniel Dae Kim, Game of Thrones star Kristofer Hivju and famous TV host Andy Cohen, have gone public with their COVID-19 diagnosis.
