How To Train Your Dragon To Get Live-Action Adaptation

Universal Pictures is set to release a live-action adaptation on March 14, 2025.

Here is good news for all the fans of How To Train Your Dragon animation trilogy. Get ready to meet your favourite Hiccup and Toothless again. Universal Pictures is set to release a live-action adaptation of Dreamworks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon on March 14, 2025.

Dean DeBlois, who wrote and directed the animated trilogy, has been given the charge of writing, producing and directing the live-action adaptation. It would mark DeBlois’ debut in live-action film-making.

How to Train Your Dragon (2010) was the first of the three animated films, which was followed by How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (2019). All three films received critical and commercial acclaim, and were nominated for Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. The trilogy grossed over USD 1.6 billion at the worldwide box office. The trilogy has also spawned several TV series, airing on Cartoon Network, Netflix, Peacock, and Hulu.

How to Train Your Dragon series is based on children’s books by British author Cressida Cowell on the same name. Set in medieval world, trilogy follows the story of shy and socially awkward Viking teenager Hiccup who befriends a dragon who are traditionally feared by his people. He names the dragon Toothless and try to fight against his own people’s anti-dragon prejudice.
