The movie depicts the story of Patrizia, who was convicted of orchestrating the assassination of her ex-husband and former head of the Gucci fashion house, Maurizio Gucci. Reggiani served 16 years in prison for the crime.
According to IndieWire, Patrizia Gucci, the great-granddaughter of Guccio Gucci, sent a statement to The Associated Press after the first look picture from House of Gucci was published earlier this year, criticizing the initiative. The Gucci heir stated, “My grandfather was a very handsome man, like all the Guccis, and very tall, blue eyes and very elegant. He is being played by Al Pacino, who is not very tall already, and this photo shows him as fat, short, with sideburns, really ugly. Shameful, because he doesn’t resemble him at all.”
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga has also shared the poster on her Instagram just after the House of Gucci shared it on Twitter.
Meanwhile, the Ridley Scott directorial is set to release on November 24, 2021.
The poster reveals the slogan of the crime drama that is “a legacy worth killing for.” The film is slated to hit the theaters this Thanksgiving which falls on November 25, and will likely benefit from having its first weekend run on the coveted Black Friday weekend.
The synopsis for House of Gucci reads, “inspired by the shocking true story of the family empire behind the Italian fashion house of Gucci. Spanning three decades of love, betrayal, decadence, revenge, and ultimately murder, we see what a name means, what it’s worth, and how far a family will go for control.”
