A Los Angeles jury has found David Pearce guilty of murdering model Christy Giles and her friend, Hilda Marcela Cabrales Arzola. The two women were found abandoned outside hospitals in 2021 after an alleged drug overdose. The 42-year-old David was also convicted on multiple counts of sexual assault involving seven other women.
Prosecutors revealed that David Pearce met the 24-year-old Christy and 26-year-old Arzola at a party in Los Angeles before inviting them to his apartment. It was there that he allegedly drugged them with fentanyl-laced cocaine. Witnesses including David’s former friend Michael Ansbach, testified that he saw David pressuring the women to use cocaine. Michael himself passed out after consuming a drink given by David, later waking up and found both women unconscious. When he urged David to call medical help, David allegedly dismissed the suggestion stating that “Dead girls don’t talk”.
Instead of getting emergency assistance, David and his roommate Brandt Osborn, loaded the women’s bodies into a car and abandoned them outside different hospitals. Christy was pronounced dead upon arrival, while Arzola remained in a coma for two weeks before being taken off life support.

During the trail, the prosecution painted David as someone who exploited women by luring them with false promises of Hollywood success. Several victims came forward, alleging that David had drugged and assaulted them over the years. A toxicology report confirmed that Giles had fentanyl and GHB, commonly known as a date rape drug, in her system. David claimed in his defense that he had no idea the women were in danger and that he attempted CPR before taking them to the hospital. The jury, however, rejected his version of events.
David now faces up to 128 years to life in prison. His co-defendant, Osborn, was charged as an accessory after the fact, but the jury could not reach a verdict on his charges, leading to a mistrial. The sentencing for Pearce is set for March 13.
