The Grammy 2020 nomination list is out and fans aren’t too happy as several artists such as BTS, Taylor Swift, Halsey and more, didn’t make it on that list. Now fans took to Twitter to express their unhappiness over the snub, and a few fans also pointed out how even Selena Gomez and Harry Styles were excluded from the list. Several fans were furious about how both singers did not receive a nod they deserved.
Now if you too aren’t happy that the former One Direction singer and the Lose You To Love Me singer did not make the list, we are here t clear the confusion. Technically speaking the artists’ musical contributions this year weren’t included at the Grammys 2020 because they released heir music after the deadline. This year the Recording Academy changed the date of the deadline, the date usually ends on September 30, but this year it was August 31.
The change is date was due to the fact that the award show was pushed from the last week of January to the first week of January due to the Oscars. So this gave them only 11 months to qualify and songs released between October 1, 2018, and August 31, 2019, were eligible for the nomination. And as Harry and Selena released their music after the August 31 deadline, they missed out on a nomination. Harry will be releasing his album Fine Lines in December, Selena is reported to drop her album early next year.
Well if not this year, surely Harry and Selena can look forward to the next year, the Grammys 2021 nomination list.
