After six years of being together, Nikki Bella opened up about her relationship with John Cena, and why she wanted to end things. The Total Bellas star talked to Maria Menounos on her Better Together podcast and got honest about the painful split.
She called it quits the WWE Hall of Famer because of their varying stance on family and kids. “Overall, we did have such an incredible relationship, it was just two people that wanted two different lives,” she said. “We were trying so hard to make it one.”
The couple dated almost six years before their split in 2018, and were trying to find common ground when it came to their parents’ future. John, 43, was not interested in having babies, while Nikki, 36, who is now pregnant with Artem Chigvintsev, was clear about her desire to be a mum.
“Even in the end when he was willing to give me kids, I could just tell, it’s not what we wanted,” she said of John deciding to reverse his vasectomy.“And that’s really, like, you know, what pushed me in the end, was like, if I’m going to force someone to be a father.”
She began dating Artem, her former Dancing with the Stars partner a year later after she publicly broke things off in July 2018. Now, the pair are together expecting their first child! Nikki is only seven weeks away from her due date and is set to give birth to her twin sister, Brie Bella, 36, who is also pregnant.
