After a long wait, Marvel finally shared the first teaser trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder. Though the teaser is less than two minutes, it’s packed with action sequences, fun surprises, and a great soundtrack to back it all up. Starring Chris Hemsworth as the fan-favourite god, the upcoming movie follows Thor after the events of Avengers: Endgame as he sets on a quest for “inner peace,” according to the official logline from Marvel.

Along the way, he interacts with some familiar faces, including King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who is shown wielding Thor’s legendary hammer Mjolnir by the end of the teaser. However, here’s everything you need to know about the most anticipated MCU film ahead of its release.

Thor: Love and Thunder – Plot
Talking about the plot, Thor: Love and Thunder find Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, on a journey, unlike anything he’s ever faced, a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale, who seeks the extinction of the gods.

Thor: Love and Thunder – Cast
In addition to the return of Chris Hemsworth, Thompson, Waititi, and Portman, the teaser trailer also feature the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy, including Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Karen Gillan as Nebula. According to Variety, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel will also be back to voice Rocket Raccoon and Groot, respectively. The film will also include Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher, a galactic killer who poses a threat to Thor and his friends. Matt Damon also teased he’ll have a cameo in the film, after previously appearing in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok.

Thor: Love and Thunder – Release Date
Meanwhile, Thor: Love and Thunder will hit theatres on July 8, just a few months after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness releases. However, Marvel and Disney haven’t announced when Thor: Love and Thunder will be available to stream on Disney+, but given that previous Marvel releases have had a minimum 45-day exclusive theatrical release, the film likely won’t hit the streaming platform until August 22.
