Here Is Why Charlie Puth Is Receiving Backlash Over Selena Gomez

We Don't Talk Anymore star Charlie Puth is receiving harsh backlash for criticising Selena Gomez with his deleted tweet.

It’s all started when We Don’t Speak Anymore, a hit song by Gomez and Puth that was released in May 2016, was a result of their collaboration. Following their live performance of it and their appearances in each other’s Snapchat videos, relationship rumours began to circulate. The founder of Rare Beauty, Justin Bieber, 30, just ended their relationship. Puth clarified in a tweet, “She’s just my friend, guys, chill down,” Gomez had remarked, although she had added, “Before it starts, he is a good one. He is only MY Buddy, lol.”

As Gomez and Bieber briefly got back together a year later, the 31-year-old released the single Attention. Internet users misunderstood the song’s lyrics, which described a lady who was using Puth for her own attention-seeking purposes. Puth admitted to having a “pretty short-lived” but “extremely profound” connection with the musician in 2018 and how it “truly messed” him up. I’m trying to explain this the nicest way I can, but it’s not like I was the only one on her mind, he said. And I believe I was aware of what I was getting myself into before I entered.

“She was attempting to ingrain me so deeply that I would never want to leave her, but I was aware that this would prevent me from getting what I needed from her. She was doing that repeatedly in an effort to extract a concession from me—namely, that I always cling to her hip.” Fans criticised Puth for being enraged that Gomez had rejected his approaches in response to his recently deleted message, which generated a lot of backlash. In addition, they characterised him as entitled, attention-seeking, and preoccupied.

It looks like Charlie Puth is trying to get himself into a mess. As Puth tweeted on March 25 that “Attention is about what you think it’s about,” in reference to the song he wrote about Gomez, the discussion has flared up once more. After receiving immediate criticism, he went on to remove the tweet. The ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’ singer has already discussed his alleged relationship with Come and Get It vocalist.
