HBO has confirmed that the much-anticipated Harry Potter series will start filming this summer at Leavesden Studios, the iconic location where the original films were shot. This exciting update came during the Max Showcase in London, where showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer Mark Mylod shared details about the project.
The casting process is in full swing with an impressive 32,000 young actors auditioning for the roles of Harry, Hermione and Ron. Gardiner revealed that up to 100 auditions tapes are being reviewed daily one-after-the-other to find the perfect fit. The production team is committed to portraying characters at their original book ages. For example, Severus Snape, rumored to be played by Paapa Essiedu, will be in his early 30s, and James and Lily Potter will be 21, matching their story timeline.
Gardiner expressed excitement about exploring more of Hogwarts in this retelling. The show aims to highlight parts of the magical world that fans haven’t seen before, such as the staff room dynamics and Peeves, the mischievous poltergeist, who didn’t make it to the movies.
