Harry Potter Star Rupert Grint Addresses Possibility Of Post-Reunion Return To The Franchise

Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts is scheduled to debut on HBO Max on January 1, 2022.

Harry Potter franchise star Rupert Grint addressed the possibility of returning to the Harry Potter franchise as Ron Weasley. Grint starred as Ron Weasley for the entire Harry Potter saga, which ran for eight movies over the course of ten years. Weasley is the loyal and reliable best friend of Harry Potter played by Daniel Radcliffe, and the love interest of Hermoine Granger, their talented and determined Hogwarts schoolmate, played by Emma Watson.

The three actors spent their childhood working on the flicks and will reunite for the 20th anniversary of the first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, in an HBO Max Harry Potter reunion special that will bring together cast and crew from the series to celebrate the anniversary franchise. However, in an interview with ComicBook, Grint noted that it’s not something he’s gone back and thought about much until recently, as the 20th anniversary of the first film approaches.

Rupert Grint expresses that it’s great to see everyone from the cast and crew again, but also believes that it “ended at the right time.” While the actor is “fond of everyone” from those films, he said he has a new perspective on it all and can ‘appreciate’ the experience for what it was.

Meanwhile, in terms of another movie, Grint was hesitant to say anything conclusive. Grint stated, “It’s been 10 years since we shot the last one. I have a new perspective, I can appreciate it for what it is, a mad, enormously fun time. As far as another movie, I don’t know. I don’t know, exactly. I love that character, I feel very connected to him, so yeah, I don’t know.”

Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts is scheduled to debut on HBO Max on January 1, 2022. The reunion special likely will not be scripted and will follow the pattern of the recent FRIENDS reunion, which featured conversations, tidbits, stories, and new revelations. Harry Potter movies were both critical and commercial success and helped Rowling become one of the most successful authors ever in history. With 500 million copies reportedly sold worldwide, Harry Potter remains the highest-selling book series to date.
