Harry Potter Star Daniel Radcliffe Gets Candid About His Future Kids

Harry potter fame star Daniel Radcliffe shared that while he 'clearly' still enjoys acting, he wouldn't want fame for his kid.

Daniel Radcliffe is better known for starring as Harry Potter in the JK Rowling film franchise. He was just 11 years old when he shot to fame and become a household name. However, the actor has recently revealed that he does not want the same for his own future children. Radcliffe also opened up about how his own struggles with childhood fame have coloured the way he intends to parent his kids one day.

In the latest interview with Newsweek, Daniel said, “I want my kids, if and when they exist… I would love them to be around film sets. A dream would be for them to come onto a film set and be like ‘God, you know, I’d love to be in the art department. I’d love to be something in the crew.’ Some part of this, but not from that.” The actor added that while he ‘clearly’ still enjoys acting, he insisted, ‘I wouldn’t want fame for my kid.’

While Daniel admitted there were advantages to growing up in the film industry, he added that the stardom that came with it should be ‘avoided at all costs’. Harry Potter actor shared, “I think if you can get a situation where you’re on film sets without necessarily [thinking] oh, this is gonna be a big deal in your life, that’s great. Film sets are wonderful places. I think a lot of the time it can be wonderful for kids. But it’s really the fame side of it that should be avoided at all costs.”

Daniel has been open about using alcohol to cope with his early fame, saying he felt ‘watched’ excessively. He explained to Off Camera host Sam Jones, “In my case, the quickest way to forget about the fact that you’re being watched is to get very drunk.” The actor added, ‘And then as you get very drunk, you become aware that ‘Oh, people are watching more now because now I’m getting very drunk, so I should probably drink more to ignore that more.'”

Daniel Radcliffe has now been sober since 2010 and for good reason, he credits his friend with helping him stop drinking. The actor then added, “Ultimately, it was my own decision. Like I woke up one morning after a night going like, ‘This is probably not good.'” For the unversed, Daniel has been in a relationship with Erin Darke for almost a decade, after they met on the 2013 film Kill Your Darlings.
