Austin Butler has recently portrayed the late legend Elvis Aaron Presley and fans have mixed reactions to it. While few fans think that Elvis Presley is not coming through in Austin Butler’s portrayal of the late actor, the King’s own flesh and blood loved his performance. The official ‘Elvis’ page’s TikTok account posted a clip from the upcoming movie and it shows Butler as Elvis talking to another character behind the Hollywood sign.
In the clip, Butler was discussing how people wanted to take him down when he first splashed on the scene, according to TMZ. Apparently, the Elvis team was trying to get some sort of viral challenge going, but instead, they received a lot of mockeries, specifically over how some perceive Austin’s look and voice. One user said that he simply doesn’t pass as EP by the eye test, but just as many say his accent is off with other users arguing that a Vegas impersonator might’ve been a better fit.
Notably, Elvis’ surviving relatives including his widow, Priscilla Presley, have praised Austin’s performance saying he nailed it. She recently said, “Austin knocked the role out of the park.” Her daughter, Lisa Marie, has similar thoughts as she said that ‘Austin Butler deserves an Oscar for this one.’ Meanwhile, Even Riley Keough, Elvis’ granddaughter, was pouring praise while posting a BTS clip showing Austin singing Elvis tunes himself.
Presley’s family really liked this movie, especially Butler’s performance. Presley has also cosigned the movie. Previously, Austin was asked what it meant to have the Presley family get behind the project, Butler said, “it meant a great deal to him.” Elvis is scheduled to release in theatres on June 24. However, the upcoming movie has received positive reviews from the critics but the real critic’s review, which is public, is yet to come. Till then watch the clip from Elvis here:
